Geämi Customer Showcase

In 1962, Crate and Barrel was founded by Chicagoans Carole and Gordon Segal. The newly married couple felt that there must be other young couples like themselves, with more taste than money. They imported well-designed tabletop products they had seen in their travels to Europe and the Caribbean, and with no extra budget for store fixtures, displayed the items on the shipping crates and barrels in which they arrived, thus inspiring the name for their new store. With a talent for visual merchandising, Carole Segal massed products market-style to show abundance and affordability, a distinctive approach that has become a Crate and Barrel signature.

Now in its 47th year, Crate and Barrel is a multi-channel home furnishings retailer, with multiple store locations in major markets across North America. Internationally recognized for its exclusive, yet affordable collections of housewares and furniture, Crate and Barrel is also known for customer service excellence. In 1998, Crate and Barrel formed a strategic partnership with Germany's Otto Versand, the world's largest mail-order company.

Commitment to sustainability is an

ongoing mission at Crate and Barrel. Nearly 10 years ago, Crate and Barrel began a successful partnership with Geämi as part of a company initiative to find more eco-friendly packaging, "Geämi is an important and cost-effective component in the company's packaging program, and has prompted overwhelmingly positive customer feedback."
