What does the word Geämi mean?
In Latin and Greek, Geämi means "earth (ge) friend (ami)." As you can see, our name reflects our commitment to providing you with a sustainable protective packaging material. Geämi is made from a renewably sourced raw material - paper - and NOT plastic or polystyrene made from oil, which as you know is non-renewable.  Additionally, Geämi is 100% recyclable and because only non-toxic, water based inks are used to print our interleaf, it is also 100% compostable.  Finally, we offer two types of Geämi paper - one that contains recycled content and one made from paper fibers sourced from third party certified sustainably managed forests.

What is the “Geämi System”?
The Geämi System consists of three components:  A roll of Geämi paper; a roll of tissue interleaf and the Geämi Auto Dispenser.  The Geämi paper is a 50lb Kraft paper that is die-cut with thousands of slits.  The tissue interleaf provides additional loft to the paper and adds surface protection.  The Geämi Auto Dispenser turns the unexpanded Geämi paper into a 3-dimensional web of honeycombed cells and interleaves the tissue paper. Together as a “system”, this unique process produces a high performance and sustainable protective packaging material on-demand.

How would I use Geämi Protective Packaging?
Geämi replaces oil-based packaging materials that you may currently be using in your packing operation such as the bubble and foam type wraps. It is ideal for wrapping, cushioning and when used for blocking & bracing, can eliminate the need for other conventional void fill methods and materials.

Who uses Geämi Protective Packaging?
Geämi is designed to protect your products against the rigors found in the small parcel shipping and handling environment. It is used by many of the leading retailers, e-tailers, cataloguers, manufacturers and distributors in the house-ware, health and beauty, table-top, organic, natural and gourmet food, home décor, electronics, glassware and tool/industrial instruments industries.

What do you mean when you say that the Geämi System produces packaging material "on-demand"?
The Geämi and tissue interleaf papers are fed through the Auto Dispenser using a foot-pedal switch.  Packers can control both the amount and the speed of the paper being dispensed.  Because of this, Geämi is produced as needed, or “on-demand” and is typically faster in wrapping applications when compared to using other types of conventional protective wrapping products.

How much paper is on a roll of Geämi and tissue interleaf?
Geämi begins as a 1000 foot roll of die-cut paper.  As it passes through the Geämi Auto Dispenser, it is expanded into approximately 1550 linear feet of honeycombed packaging material per roll. A single roll of tissue interleaf is 2400 feet long.

How big are the paper rolls used in the Geämi System?
A single roll of Geämi paper is 20 inches long and approximately 9 inches in diameter, weighing approximately 22 pounds. The accompanying roll of tissue interleaf is 12 inches long and approximately 9 inches in diameter, weighing approximately 12 pounds.

How are the Geämi papers shipped?
The Geämi papers are shipped to you by the skid (pallet).  Our standard skid (pallet) contains 20 rolls of unexpanded Geämi paper , 14 rolls of tissue interleaf and the shipping weight is approximately 813 lbs.  One pallet of Geämi equals 31,000 linear feet of protective packaging material.  Just imagine how much storage space that an equivalent amount of the bubble or foam type wraps would take up in your facility versus one easy-to-handle skid (pallet) of Geämi.
