Our Story

In 1992, a group of entrepreneurs challenged themselves to create an innovative paper packaging solution to compete with plastic wrapping material and styrofoam peanuts. They wanted a solution that was sustainable, affordable, and offered superior in-the-box product protection.

The entrepreneurs began testing a multitude of ideas. One of the ideas included cutting hundreds of slits into kraft paper with a utility knife with the hope to create something more from less. It worked.

As a result, the “Geami hexagon” was invented and the company GeoPax was formed.

Word quickly got around about the innovative product and businesses were eagerly purchasing the patented solution.

All offices were moved to Raleigh, North Carolina in 2000 and the newly consolidated company changed its name from GeoPax to Geami.

While the company continued to grow, the patented product got several recognitions and awards including entering the Material ConneXion library of advanced, innovative and sustainable materials and being nominated for the Discover Awards for Technological Innovation, creating further buzz.

In 2006, Braulio Libero, came on as president of Geami and structured the company from a startup to a solid growing business. In late 2010, Marcelo Passos joined the executive team as vice president to further accelerate the development of the business and growth strategy for Geami.

In 2011, Geami entered an exciting growth stage, with the expansion of sales reach, product line extension, and new product development.

From Fortune 500 to small business, companies are packaging with a conscience shipping more than 15 million packages a year using Geami’s sustainable GreenWrap.
