Geämi honored with INC. Magazine 5000 ranking
DEMAND FOR SUSTAINABLE PROTECTIVE PACKAGING DRIVES SALES GROWTH Morrisville, NC September 17, 2007 - Inc. Magazine announced that Geämi, Ltd. has been included on its first-ever Inc. 5,000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in the country. Geämi ranked at 4744 with a three-year sales growth rate nearing 34%. The Inc. 5,000, an extension of Inc. magazine's annual Inc. 500 list, catches many businesses that are too big to grow at the pace required to make the Inc. 500, as well as a host of smaller firms. Taken as a whole, these companies represent the backbone of the U.S. economy. "The Inc. 5,000 provides the most comprehensive look ever at the most important part of the economy - the entrepreneurial part," said Inc. 5,000 Project Manager Jim Melloan. Notes Braulio Libero, Geämi's President; "I applaud Inc. Magazine for creating a venue to recognize the achievements of smaller, forward thinking companies such as Geämi. We are proud of the role that our products have played, and will continue to play, in the protective packaging industry as more companies commit to incorporating environmentally sustainable practices into their business activities and trend away from petroleum based packaging materials." About Geämi, Ltd. Geämi, meaning "earth (ge) friend (ami)", is a high performance, renewably sourced paper-based protective packaging material that is both 100% recyclable and compostable. Founded in 1994, the North Carolina based company currently supplies sustainable packaging products to many of the top brand names in the house wares, electronic, home decor, natural/organic food, wellness, cosmetic and beauty industries. The Geämi protective packaging material features a patented die-cut paper that when expanded, creates a honeycomb web of angled cells. A layer of tissue paper is interleaved to produce a cost-effective packaging material that is used to wrap and protect items during small parcel shipment. Geämi is a sustainable replacement for petroleum based protective packaging materials such bubble and foam type wraps. About the Inc. 5000 List The 2007 Inc. 5,000 reported median revenue of $9.4 million and median three-year growth of 140 percent.
